Why Do Ten Million Pro-Choice Women Still Support the Anti-Choice Candidacy of John McCain?

There may be millions of pro-choice Republican women who might shift their allegiances to Obama once they understand that John McCain is unalterably opposed to a woman’s right to choose.

One thing is certain. No matter what the outcome, at least 45 million American women will vote in the November election. If current polls hold steady, 20 million or more of them will vote for John McCain.

Polls further say that at least one half of the women who are supporters of McCain also support a woman’s right to choose.

This disconnect suggests that with fair and proper persuasion there is a major opportunity for Obama to win a significant number of votes among women who currently intend to support McCain. (Click Here to Read More)

John McCain is unequivocally opposed to a woman’s right to choose. Earlier this year he said, “I do not support Roe v. Wade. It should be overturned.”

A woman’s right to choose continues to be a major wedge issue in American politics. Not only is the public about equally divided on the issue, it draws an extremely passionate response from people on both sides of the political spectrum.

This year McCain said, “I do not support Roe v. Wade. It should be overturned.”
